G8 Protests demand Vigilance

Vigilance Properties was delighted to play a small role in boosting the safety of its clients' assets during this week's G8 protests in the capital.

The firm was approached by a number of long-standing clients to supply additional services in support of police and other efforts ensuring that legitimate political protest could not escalate into violence against people or property.

We supplied a number of licensed Door Supervisors to supplement existing arrangements at some high profile restaurants and clubs in Mayfair and the West End. The company was also asked to enhance some existing measures at a number of its key office and residential assets across the Capital. All efforts were aimed at ensuring that if protestors targetted assets, a proportionate response was present and able to react rapidly.

Members of Vigilance's recently formed Rapid Response Team did sterling work in enabling both clients, their staff and esteemed clientele to feel protected, while continuing to go about the important business of either serving up or enjoying their hosts hospitality.

Previous G8 protests have seen determined splinter groups breakaway, and in some cases wreak merry havoc behind the backs of law enforcers. But this year the policing presence in Berkeley Square and Jermyn Street was upped, and this busy area of London remained a relative haven of calm compared to hard hit neighbour Soho.

Vigilance Properties is delighted to have played a small but important role in supporting public safety in its local community, while allowing the critical and enjoyable business of Mayfair continue unperturbed.
