On 15th May Vigilance was among selected sponsors of a community engagement event in which the threat of rising smash and grab crime in key retail areas of West London.
At the invitation of the SSAG organising committee, Vigilance commercial director Ian Lyons and resources manager Gagan Thapa represented the company at this event at the Royal Institution, which brought together key stakeholders from the private and public sectors to form strategies to combat the rise of crime directed at retailers in the local area.
Attendees and stakeholder at a well attended CSR event included PaS, Safer London, New West End Company, the Metropolitan Police, Safer Jewellery, the Police and Security (PaS) initiative of the BSIA, the SIA, a group of private estates including the Cadogan, Westminster and Grosvenor Estates, and the key central London department scores including Harrods, Selfridges and Westfield.
Delegates were able to visit sponsor display stands, open forum for knowledge exchange and networking, mock demonstration of smash and grab commentated by serving police officers, and a Q&A with expert panellists.
Ian Lyons commented:
