Vigilance Properties was among just five individuals and teams to land a prestigious British Security Industry Association Chairman’s Award 2016 at its flagship Annual Luncheon at the London Hilton on Park Lane on the 12th July.
The Chairman's Awards are an annual celebration of the most significant contributions made to the ongoing success of the UK’s private security industry. Personally selected by the BSIA’s Chairman, Dirk Wilson, himself a leading industry Managing Director, the awards serve to recognise significant or lifelong contributions across five different categories.
Winning the award for Contribution to the Community Vigilance was acknowledged as a company whose roots lie in social enterprise. First established in 2008 with the aim of improving the livesof ex-service men and women the company had gone from strength to strength in promoting its CSR agenda.
Studies suggest that as many as 5,000 former services personnel are homeless in the UK at any one time, with over 20% in London alone. Vigilance Properties’ track record in rebuilding productive lives is enviable, as its staff and management proudly testify; through recruitment alone Vigilance has nurtured over 600 former soldiers in developing civilian careers over the past 8 years.
The Chairman's Award also recognised the company's far reaching and dedicated fundraising and CSR efforts, from Trailwalker participation to London Poppy Day in support of the Royal British Legion a cause that Vigilance staff passionately contribute to.
Commenting on the awards, BSIA Chairman, Dirk Wilson, said:
“I am proud to be able to recognise these individuals whose commitment and dedication has made a lasting impression on our industry, both in the UK and abroad. The actions of this year’s winners have all served to promote our industry in a positive light and I am delighted to be able to commend the impact they have made."
This coming October Vigilance's next big CSR event will be run, quite literally, in Hyde Park; The Vigilance Gurkha Run will challenge participants to follow a 10 km course around the park, and proceeds raised will support its Siddartha School reconstruction project in Western Nepal in partnership with the Gurkha Welfare Trust.
