Vigilance Charity Run Hyde Park - Participant Information

Participants and Supporters!

Thanks for your kind support of our charity partner the Gurkha Welfare Trust (the GWT) and its important work in the UK and Nepal. You are helping to make reality of our longstanding dream to rebuild the Siddartha School in Chiuribot, Western Nepal. 

Mandatory Fun!

As you know from your online registration this is a lighthearted charity run at either a 5 or 10km distance around a timed course in London's scenic Hyde Park. The Race HQ, start and finish lines will be located at the Bandstand off Serpentine Road, near Hyde Park Corner.

Vigilance Hyde Park Fun Run, Friday October 14th 2016, Order of Events:

• 1200 Participant Marshalling (Event HQ, Hyde Park Corner Bandstand)
• 1245 Participant Address
• 1250 Pre-race Warm Ups
• 1300 Event Start
• 1500 Event Finishing & Clear Up.

Drum Roll Please!

The race will start with some fanfare at 1300 prompt on Friday, but participants are encouraged to arrive at Race HQ from 12 noon on the day to ensure that all pre-race preparations are comfortably done and dusted in good time!

1300 Starters Orders

A course briefing will be given before the race starts at 1300 hours. An appropriate participant warm up will be lead shortly before the start. On course Vigilance race marshalls will be posted at key points to direct and encourage; a map is attached for the competitive, or any casual cartographers among you:

 Housekeeping Points

Some necessary housekeeping points that will be repeated at the Event Briefing:

• Fresh drinking water will be available at the 5km drinks station but all other energy drink or food needs are for your own attention. 
• All participants will be running of our own volition, entirely at our own risk.
• Please be aware of other park users / obstacles / animals at all times, remembering that while your race time may be important to you, it is far more important that you and other park users get to enjoy this beautiful green space safely.
• Nominated sports first aiders will be attending and a first aid kit will be located at Race HQ.
• Facilities in Hyde Park are limited, and regrettably we cannot extend changing or showering facilities, so we suggest that you turn up ready to run, and prepared to return home basking in the warm but unwashed afterglow of a job well done.
• Limited bag storage is catered for at the Race HQ tent, which will be supervised at all times. But please be aware that any items (one small bag per participant) are left at entirely the owner's risk.
• Lavatories are available in Hyde Park at a cost of 20p; registered participants may enjoy one free post-race 20 pee which will be available on receipt of their race goodie bag!
